The Massachusetts
Coalition for Water Resources Stewardship, (MCWRS) is a group of
cities, towns and sewer authorities across Massachusetts that share a common concern in how EPA and DEP write and enforce
NPDES permits. The mission of this newly
formed grass roots organization is provided in its “White Paper”, The Case for Environmental
Regulatory Reform - Clean Water Act NPDES Permitting provides a discussion of the needs for improved
management of discharge permitting.
MCWRS recommendations for reform are presented in the Report to the
Massachusetts Congressional Delegation on Regulatory Reform.
New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) is an association of water resources
professionals throughout New England that involves all aspects of water and
wastewater management.
The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is the parent organization of NEWEA; it is
a not-for-profit technical and educational organization with more than 34,000
individual members and 81 affiliated Member Associations representing an
additional 50,000 water quality professionals throughout the world. Check out their “About Water & Sanitation”

The research arm of WEF, the Water environment Research
Foundation (WERF) manages independent scientific research that leads to
cost-effective responses to water quality concerns affecting the environment
and human health.
The National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) represents the country's
wastewater treatment agencies, true environmental practitioners that serve the
majority of the sewered population in the
Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is the state agency
responsible for ensuring clean air and water, the safe management of
toxics and hazards, the recycling of solid and hazardous wastes, the timely
cleanup of hazardous waste sites and spills, and the preservation of wetlands
and coastal resources.

Federal agency whose mission
is to protect human health and the environment. Since 1970, EPA has been working for a
cleaner, healthier environment for the American people.
The United States
Geological Survey (USGS) is a Federal multi-disciplinary science organization that focuses on biology,
geography, geology, geospatial information, and water, that is dedicated to the
timely, relevant, and impartial study of the landscape, our natural resources,
and the natural hazards that threaten us.
